Model For A Day: Julianna Spain
Photographs: Andrew Parsons
Not everyone can pull off a floor-length gold sequined gown, but Julianna Spain of Darien does it flawlessly. It’s hard to believe this statuesque brunette, and working mother of two isn’t a professional model. You can see Spain styled-up in all her red-carpet-worthy glory in our current issue (see “Runway to Real Way”). During our shoot, we had the opportunity to talk with this local glamazon and here’s what we learned.
Model for the day: “For the New Canaan – Darien fashion shoot, I was asked to wear a sequined gown while standing in front of a fan, and that was way too much fun. I would love to look and feel that beautiful every day. Everyone should have the opportunity to feel like that for one hour in their life!”
Her typical day: “Most weekdays are a mad rush to play catch-up. In the winter, I drive my girls to ski team in Killington, Vermont. In the summer, I often strap an Opti sailboat on my car and drive to various regattas up and down the coast for my girls, who are in sailing programs.”
Work experience: “As an event planner, my work has included projects for Trojan Magnum condoms with Ludacris, our brand ambassador. Most recently, I took on the role of Guinness Believer Tour Manager, coordinating Guinness tastings across the country. Mixing hard work and loads of adventure makes every day unique and fun.”
Go-to summer look: “I live in a swimsuit and cover-up, or an array of sundresses.
