Thanks to the support of 264 guests, the twelfth annual Star Inc. gala raised a record $310,000 for Fairfield County residents with developmental disabilities. “We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our local communities in addressing the needs and improving the lives of people with disabilities,” says Star’s Executive Director Katie Banzhaf. “For our event to have grown to this level of success is a testament to our volunteers, families, sponsors and staff, whose dedication to our mission is unwavering.” Special guests included Senator Richard Blumental, Congressman Jim Himes and State Representative Gail Lavielle. Chairs for the gala committee included Rob and Meghan Cioffi of New Canaan and Mary Ferrara and John Masanotti of Darien. A silent auction featured more than 100 items. A live auction drew bids for everything from tickets to a Knicks/Lakers game to an African safari. One of the highlights of the live auction was a romance package that consisted of decadent desserts from Michael Joseph’s Catering in Darien, floral arrangements and champagne for six occasions. starinc-lightingtheway.org
