New Canaan-based Voices of September 11 held its annual Always Remember gala at Gustavino's in New York City where keynote speaker Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke about her experience visiting the World Trade Center site immediately after the attacks and about her belief that it’s important to “understand we have an obligation not only to remember the past but to imagine, and create, a better future.” The event’s emcee was veteran television personality Joan Lunden, who introduced guests such as Joe Daniels and Alice Greenwald of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. Daniels and Greenwald gave a preview of what the new museum will look like when it opens in Manhattan in the spring of 2014, and they also thanked Voices' founder Mary Fetchet of New Canaan for her work to commemorate the lives lost through the Voices 9/11 Living Memorial Project, which will be a core component of the museum. Cochairs of the event were New Canaan resident Bonnie McEneaney and her sister-in-law, Debbie McEneaney. Funds raised at the gala will support the nonprofit’s ongoing work to provide long-term services for 9/11 families, survivors and responders. voicesofseptember11.org
