Big Rig Gig
The 10th annual Big Rig Gig at the Darien Town Hall offered children of all ages the opportunity to get up close and personal with more than 20 heavy-duty trucks and cool cars. A gear head’s dream, the collection of trucks and automobiles was gathered to benefit Opus for Person-to-Person, which reports that more than $31,000 was raised. In addition to ticket sales, more than $2,700 was pledged to support the nonprofit’s grocery bag initiative, which restocks the Person-to-Person Emergency Food Pantry. All proceeds raised will help support the more than 21,500 clients who come to Person-to-Person each year in search of assistance with food, clothing and other basic needs. Musical entertainment was provided by the Bossy Frog Bank and the Roaming Railroad was a big hit with the pint-size conductors in the crowd.
