Wet and cold weather was unwelcome on this day, but the inclement conditions didn’t keep the crowds away. Visitors to the annual New Canaan Cares Kitchen and Home Tour wore rain jackets along with big smiles as they explored beautifully designed and decorated houses. There were eight residences on the tour route, along with a boutique where a number of local vendors set up shop; these retailers also donated a portion of their sales to Cares. This tour is the largest fundraiser of the year for the nonprofit organization and it draws visitors from all around the county. It’s a town tradition, too, as it’s been running consecutively for twenty-one years. The event also featured a drawing for special prizes, such as a tour parking pass and spring dress jacket by local designer Skirtin’ Around. All proceeds from the tour will fund youth and family programs. New Canaan Cares is dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles, empowering youth and strengthening families.
