The flagship social event for Stepping Stones Museum for Children, the 2013 Kaleidoscope Ball, did not disappoint. The gala drew 360 guests and raised $300,000 for the museum's Open Arms Initiative. "That so many people came together to celebrate our museum is truly amazing,” said Rhonda Kiest, chief executive officer of Stepping Stones. “It’s because of our incredible community of supporters that we can provide play-filled learning opportunities to all children and their families.” Recipients of the 2013 Stepping Up for Children Awards were honored on this evening. Honorees included Hazel Hobbs of New Canaan, who is a founding headmistress of Pear Tree Point School in Darien and a founding board member of Stepping Stones. The gala featured cocktails, dinner, dancing and The Grace Kelly Quintet. Live auction items included tickets to The Masters golf tournament, a red leather jacket autographed by Michael Jackson and breakfast with Senator Richard Blumenthal in the U.S. Senate dining room.
