Feet on the Ground

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation was title sponsor for the recent Empire State Building Run-Up.

The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) was title sponsor for the recent Empire State Building Run-Up. Staged by New York Road Runners, the race is one of the organization’s most challenging fitness events. In the race’s thirty-six-year history, only 5,302 athletes have earned bragging rights for reaching the finish line on the eighty-sixth-floor observation deck of the Empire State Building. The MMRF, which has been title sponsor for the event for three consecutive years, was represented by a team of 120 runners that included Natalie Morales of NBC’s Today show. In three years, the MMRF team has raised $1.4 million through participation in this one event. The money raised will help to accelerate the development of new treatments for multiple myeloma. “We are so proud to be part of this iconic race,” says Alicia O’Neill, director of endurance and race events at the MMRF. “It’s emblematic of the MMRF’s focus on speed and innovation.”
