The YWCA Darien/Norwalk held its third annual Women of Distinction Awards and Luncheon at Woodway Country Club in Darien. The celebration was attended by approximately 220 people. On hand to pay tribute to the women being honored were Darien First Selectwoman Jayme Stevenson, Selectman John Lundeen, Steve Falcone, the head of the Darien Board of Education, and Jenny Streeter, the executive director of the Darien Community Fund.

Patti Russo, the president of the Women’s Campaign School at Yale University, addressed the attendees and introduced the winners. The recipients of the Women of Distinction awards are residents of Darien and Norwalk who have inspired others with their work to improve the local or global community. According to the YWCA, these honorees are able to think outside the box to break new barriers, and they set fine examples for women of all ages throughout our towns.
