To celebrate its thirty-fifth anniversary, the New Canaan Community Foundation (NCCF) hosted a wine and food tasting event at Waveny House during which more than $26,000 was raised to benefit the organization’s Sapienza Scholarship Fund. The evening featured wines provided by New Canaan Wine Merchants and food was donated by local restaurants, including Bistro Bonne Nuit, Boulevard 18, Carpe Diem, Cherry Street East, Elm, Plum Tree, The Roger Sherman Inn, Sole, South End and Tequila Mockingbird. “There was a profound sense of town pride in the room,” says Cindy Charas, board president for NCCF.

“The nonprofit community in New Canaan is a vibrant resource to our residents and the foundation is proud to have played a part in its strength for these past thirty-five years.” Since 1977, New Canaan Community Foundation has awarded $7 million to local nonprofits and scholarship recipients. The mission of the NCCF is to promote local philanthropy and help donors achieve their charitable goals. NCCF provides a way for all residents of New Canaan to make an impact by supporting causes that are important to them and our community.
