On the Move
Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation
An incredible 1,500 supporters joined the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in its ninth annual MMRF Race for Research, a tristate 5k walk/run that started at New Canaan High School. The race, one of nine MMRF events in the nation, raised more than $325,000 for the organization, which supports research for this lethal form of blood cancer.
Among the sneaker-clad supporters of MMRF was New Canaan resident Ann Curry, who is an honorary member of the group’s board of directors and has served as the honorary chair for this event since 2004.
Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company and Celgene served as national sponsors for the race. MMRF was founded sixteen years ago by Karen Andrews and her sister Kathy Giusti, a New Canaan resident who has been living with multiple myeloma since 1996. The organization has raised over $190 million for multiple myeloma research.
