More than 200 guests attended a black-tie gala at the Woodway Country Club in Darien to support Shakespeare on the Sound, Connecticut’s premier outdoor summer theater company. This month, the company will present a newly conceived production of Romeo and Juliet under the direction of Joanna Settle. The first production at Baldwin Park in Greenwich runs through July 8; the second will be staged in Rowayton’s Pinkney Park from July 18 through 29. Guests at the gala enjoyed cocktails, dinner, live entertainment, and both silent and live auctions. In all, the event raised $150,000 for the 2012 series. U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal was on hand to award a special citation to William Wilson of Rowayton, who was honored as a longtime supporter, volunteer and patron of Shakespeare on the Sound, which is in its seventeenth season.
